Our values: About Us

Recruitment & Procurement

North East Nursing & Care Services takes a robust approach in recruiting workforce. We communicate directly with all candidates, to discuss any work opportunities and to confirm details of any offer made. We have robust procedures in place for the vetting of new employees and workers and ensure that we are able to confirm their identities, their right to work in the United Kingdom and that they are paid directly into an appropriate, personal bank account. For any employee or worker with a work permit or visa, we carry out regular audits and management of these documents to ensure they remain valid. NEN have compliance staff including a recruitment/training manager to ensure this policy is maintained across the organisation. The company also regularly audit the employee records and the results are reported to both the management and the owner of the company to ensure transparency. In order to ensure other organisations comply with our own standards and values, we have put in place several measures to assess and manage supply chain risk. These include undertaking due diligence on our key suppliers by periodically auditing their modern slavery statements and through mandatory compliance terms in all new or updated supply contracts. We focus our supplier due diligence by identifying higher risk suppliers by category of service /product and/or the geography of their operations.

Awareness-raising programme

As well as training staff, the organisation continues to try and raise awareness of modern slavery issues by maintaining our policy and where necessary, have circulated a series of emails to staff. We are currently in the process of arranging training for both our office and agency staff in latest developments in this area.

• The training will explain to staff:
• The basic principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015;
• How employers can identify and prevent slavery and human trafficking;
• What employees can do to flag up potential slavery or human trafficking issues to the relevant parties within the organisation; and
• What external help is available, for example through the Modern Slavery Helpline.

Whistleblowing

NEN encourage all our workers, customers and business partners to report any concerns related to our activities. Our whistleblowing Policies and Procedures are designed to make it easy for workers to make disclosures without the fear of retribution. The organisation has developed an open culture where any concerns can be raised in a safe, supportive and confidential environment.
This statement was approved on March 31st 2023 by the organisation’s Manager, who review and update it annually. Next Review March 2024
